Though not that well recieved by the general public, Eye of the Beholder is an extremely fun 'hardcore' role- playing game. The two official expansions and a horde of campaigns made by players all went way beyond the throwaway base game and kept Neverwinter Nights relevant, when it should have been thrown into the dust bin of gaming history. Thankfully, Eye of the Beholder considers items as small as stones to be sacrifices, so just plunk down anything you dont care about in the hole and then advance through the passage that opens up to the left. I really like the Eye of the Beholder module, it feels very 'classic' and dark with all the dead adventurers everywhere and the progression of going deeper and deeper underground, but there are just so many things that I have so much trouble getting around. For those not in the know, BioWare's Neverwinter Nights is not actually the first game to bear that name.
